You Tube Fun!

Julia could watch this You Tube Video over, and over, and over, and over... get the idea.  She'll come up to Shawn or I throughout the day and say "I want blast off!"  So I thought I would share.  Oh and I found this other cool video that the girls like to watch too.  Enjoy!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

We finished our Leprechaun Trap just in the nick of time! Shawn helped the girls make the ladder.  We set it up before we went to bed.  The Leprechaun is supposed to climb the ladder and reach for the lucky coin.  When he steps on the top of the hat he falls down and he's trapped!

But those Leprechauns sure are tricky.  We don't know how they did it but they knocked down the trap and took the lucky coin.  See what else they did...

they mixed up our boots,

turned the toilet water green,

made the waffle mix green,

and even got to our milk!

We've had quite the fun day!  We had a Leprechaun come visit our house!

Emily is Doing a Marathon...

Emily has joined the Lakeview Running Club!
Over the next few months they are going to run a Marathon.
40km will be run with the Running Club and the last 2km she will run at
the Little Soul's Marathon on  May 30th.

The weather is finally getting a little nice.  Julia, Rebecca and I joined Emily today at school and ran with her.   We had fun running in the friendly Lethbridge Wind.
I was so proud of Emily!

FHE Board and watch out for those Leprechauns!

I finally completed our Family Home Evening Board.  I've been collecting all the pieces, and tweaking the idea now for a couple of months.  I had my amazing my Father-in-law cut me a piece of steel, had some vinyl lettering done, made the white frame from some MDF moulding, and found these cute frames from the dollar bin at Michael's, and attached some magnets to the back.  Tahdah! I'm pretty pleased with it and the girls, my biggest fans, love it.  Emily is really excited to do the Lesson tomorrow.  So enjoy those pics.

St. Patty's is on Tuesday and each child in Emily 's class was asked to make a Leprechaun Trap.  We got some great ideas from our Family Fun Magazine this month.  Emily did a great job!  We tested the trap out.  When the Leprechaun grabs the pot of coins the cloud container will fall on him and that's that.  She really hopes to catch one at school.  Julia and I will finishing our trap for home tomorrow.  I'll have to post some pics when we are done.

Good Mommy Moments!

Today I had a Good Mommy Moment! Julia wanted to play with her playdough. You know the store bought stuff. It was all dried up and gross. Just everywhere. She couldn't play with it. So we made our own.

I pulled out this old book that my Mom had when we were little.

We made three batches. Julia picked the colours. Pink, Purple and Blue.

We had so much fun today. My house isn't clean and I'm not totally ready for YW's tonight. But boy, did I score points for Awesome Mom today. Now I just have to breakdown and give Julia the Lollipop she is asking (whining) for now.

Oh here's the recipe if you need a good one for stove top playdough.

Stove Top Playdough

Mix in a medium pot:
1 cup white flour
1/4 cup salt
2 tbsp. cream of tartar

Combine and add:
1 cup water
2 tsp. vegetable food colouring
1 tbsp. oil

Cook over medium heat and stir (about 3-5 minutes.) It will look like a "globby" mess and you'll be sure it's not turning out...but it will. When it forms a ball in the center of the pot turn out and knead on a lightly floured surface. Store in an airtight container or plastic bag (I love ziploc bags). Edible but not tasty.

Responsibilities!

When Emily comes home from School, we go through her B.E.A.R book (Bring Everything Always Ready). We check to see if there are any notes from her teacher, important news, homework, work to keep at home. Today I was going through her work to keep at home, and I just had to share some of it. The worksheet is titled "Responsibilities" "A responsibility is a job or action that you are supposed to do" "1. At home I am responsible for : taking care of my fish" (We don't have a fish. I know Emily is hoping for one.) " It is important to do this job because: it is my pet" (Good answer Emily, if we ever have a fish it will be her pet!). "2. At school I am responsible for: doing my work. It is important to do this job because: I need to Learn" Well what can I say, She's right. "3. In my community I am responsible for: recycling. (If anyone knows me, recycling isn't one of my strengths, sorry Mom!) "It is important to do this job because: we are following Jesus example" I asked Emily about this, her response "Well Jesus would recycle! Right!?" Too cute. Just had to share.
