I have realized it's easier to do this whole summer thing each day, instead of letting them pile up.
So I'll try to do better going forward.
Day 19 - That afternoon I was taking some newborn pics so the girls were outside playing. I was so grateful that Spencer came over to play with them and help out. She is awesome. So I was pretty spent that day but the kids had a blast in the sprinkler, bouncer and on their bikes. We are still working with Emily riding her 2 wheeler.
Day 20 - That morning we did some yard work. The girls pulled weeds and I mowed the lawn. When I was a little girl my Nanny would have us pull weeds to help our Mom with the garden. For every weed we pulled we got a penny, if we were able to go the root out we got a nickel. After we were done pulling, we would sit on the front steps and count out the weeds. Good memories. Well I made the same deal with the girls. Emily was full speed ahead. Julia, so so. At the end Emily had pulled 99 weeds, 50 no root, 49 root. Not bad. I was really proud of her. And Julia came in with a whopping 9 weeds, no root. It was really cute. I counted out the nickels and pennies, and they were thrilled.
Saturday - Geocaching, previous post
Day 21 - Later in the week we were having a Ward Pioneer Picnic. So we had to get the wagon ready. Our good friends brought over their wagon for us to borrow. So we decorated it and had a blast. That night for FHE we had a lesson on the pioneers.
Day 22 - With the upcoming picnic we needed to finish our costumes. Here is Rebecca's. It only cost me 50cents to make. I had some scrap fabric from some pillows and the brim on her bonnet was originally on her jumper that I picked up at the thrift store.
Day 23- Finally the Pioneer Picnic and Parade. I finished the girls bonnets that morning. I made them reversible. I think they turned out really cute. Emily got her costume on as soon as she got up that morning. The ward/primary activity worked out really well. We had our picnic, strawberry shortcake for dessert, and Brother Wright told a story. Then the primary had their parade and the kids played games.
Here is a video of Julia in the Potato Sack Races.
And one of Emily.
Day 24- The girls were invited to a tea party. It was Miss I's B-day. So they got all fancied up. They did such a great job on their manners. Amie did such a great job. They had a blast.
Day 25 - Shawn left for Vegas. Convention. He took the girls out for lunch before he left.
Saturday - We stuck around the house. The girls cleaned their room. We played in the sprinkler and had fudgesicles. I have never seen Emily get so messy and enjoy it!
We did some crafting for Rebecca's birthday party. Made a trip to the dollar store. And probably the highlight was having their Cousin Kaden over. They played outside. Lots of bike time. We are enjoying the nice weather.
Sunday - We all woke up this morning with sore throats and running noses. Rebecca hadn't been feeling well since Thursday, so I guess it's going through the house. So we are enjoying Teletoon Retro and lots of Fruit and Liquids. We're resting up.
